Do I need experience to play tabletop RPGs?
Absolutely not! ThunderCon! is designed for all skill levels, from absolute beginners to seasoned players who enjoy a more advanced game. Our vetted Dungeon Masters specialize in quick-start games and welcoming new players, ensuring everyone can dive into the adventure right away. For more experienced players, advanced sessions will also run throughout the convention.
What games will be available and how will they be played?
We feature a wide array of TTRPG sessions, including introductory one-shots, ongoing campaigns, and unique scenarios crafted by our DMs. We'll have a selection of several popular tabletop RPGs to explore, ensuring there's something for every adventurer. Players will sign up for sessions each day / throughout the day - and our Game Makers will place groups that are age and level-appropriate into various lengths of gameplay.
Will food and drinks be available at the venue?
You are welcome to Bring Your Own Snacks- being sure to Leave No Trace and clean up after yourself! There are MANY excellent local eateries within walking distance of the venue, and we encourage patronizing our neighbors during the daily dinner break. The bar at the Miners Foundry will be open during the event and have a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages in addition to adult 21+ beverages available for purchase inside the venue.
Can I bring my own character to the game?
Yes, bringing your own character is highly encouraged! Our DMs can help integrate your character into their games. We can also help you build a character, or provide a pre-set character sheet to get you right into the gameplay.
What if I can't make it for both days?
Both weekend passes and single-day options are available for Adults (18+) and Youth (8-17); kids ages 0-7 are FREE! All players under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent at all times.
Is there parking available at the venue?
There is a parking lot behind the Miners Foundry, but we do expect it to fill early. Street parking is also available throughout downtown Nevada City, and there are several public lots nearby within a short walking distance. We recommend arriving early and carpooling whenever possible, especially on Saturday, to secure the most convenient parking and reduce our impact on the environment.
